Negative decision on your asylum application
When your application for international protection is not accepted, you receive a negative decision. This means that your application is rejected and you must leave Austria. If you do not agree with the decision, you can appeal it.
On this page, you can find out what this decision means and what will happen next.
What does this decision mean for you?
If the decision is negative, the reasons will be explained in the decision and you will be issued a decision to return to your country.
If you do not agree with the decision, you can appeal it. This means that a court will review the decision. You can ask for a legal adviser free of charge to help you appeal. You can find more information here.
If your application for international protection and the appeal are rejected, and you do not have the right to remain for other reasons, you will have to leave Austria by the date indicated. In this case, you must participate in a return counselling session with the BBU within the next ten days. If you do not leave voluntarily, you may be forced to return.
The authorities always prefer voluntary departure, and a range of support services are offered to help you. If you wish to return voluntarily, contact the BBU GmbH or visit Return from Austria for more information.
